Morawewa Massacre

On 22nd December 1987, armed LTTE terrorists abducted 6 Sinhalese fishermen and later tortured them to death

Kathankadu Muslim Massacre

The 31st December 1987 marked the end of Sri Lanka’s bloodiest year. On the new year eve itself, LTTE terrorists carried out two cowardly village massacres in Batticaloa and Trincomalee

A group of LTTE terrorists armed with sharp weapons and small arms raided Kathankadu Muslim village in Batticaloa and butchered 30 civilians, including women and children. Severely mutilated bodies of the innocent civilians displayed the extent of brutality that they had to suffer at the hands of their killers

Mahadivulwewa Massacre

On 31st December 1987, a group of LTTE terrorists armed with sharp weapons and small arms raided the ancient Sinhalese village of Mahadivulwewa and butchered 8 civilians and wounded 9 others.

The terrorist failed to attain the intended kill as the civilians were hiding in the jungles at night due to the terrorist threats. The terrorists looted the houses and set fire on to them, destroying 15 houses
