On 21st June 1987, a group of LTTE terrorists armed with small arms raided the ancient Sinhalse hamlet of Godapotha in Polonnaruwa. 8 villagers were killed and one found with serious injuries. The terrorist failed to attain the intended kill as the civilians used to sleep in the jungle hideouts at night due to the terrorist threat
